The soldier runs up the side of a hill.He grunts nearly falling down,regaining his balance.Dirt rolls past him as he moved up the ridge point. he growls struggling to stand up,arms and knee pressed into the steep hillside."Why the colonel picked this hill,ill never know."The soldier growls struggling to stay balanced on the hillside."Okay come on you can do this!"he shouts pushing himself up the hill dirt rolls as some of the ground around him cracks he notices and pushes himself up."Ragh! i can do this! I will survive this! "he growls digging his hands into the ground grabbing onto whatever he can grab on the steep hill,he eventually gets tot he top panting. he rolls on his back and looks up."Oh my god,that was hard,that was some of the highest i have had to climb,using nothing,but my hands."The soldier laughs as he breathes."Okay lets take a look around, i need to get away from this place, and contact my comrades."The soldier says as he turns,his shocked expression makes him freeze up.He stares at the liberty's call,the wreckage of it is far worse than he thought.He remains frozen for a few moments before his helmet picks up the colonels signal again.
"Soldier it is colonel Louise are you there?"The colonel calls out."We just picked up your signal.Are you there son?"
"Yeah i read you loud and clear colonel, at ridge view point, the wreck is,worse than i originally thought sir."The soldier replies,a tone of sadness in his voice as he examines the ship.
"Sigh,i understand soldier,shes a good ship,and we'll get her off this goddamned rock of a world you have my word son.The liberty's call hasn't seen her last days of action."Colonel Louise replies."Now lets find you and get you out of there son."
"yeah,thank you sir,im at ridge point, heh just waiting for the cavalry to arrive."The soldier replies.
"Alright good, good,now son whats your name, it will make it much easier to find you.
"Sir,"the soldier began"My name is Jacob,Gunnery Sargent Jacob MacArthur. sir."
The colonel smiles at hearing those words he chuckles."Hot damn,Jacob it will take both Heaven and Hell to bring you down,and even they are in for a run for their money son.Glad to see your still moving around,we'll be there soon ETA five minutes."the colonel happily remarks.
Jacob smiles behind his helmet and looks up at the mountain, he sees the peak of it and smiles examining the planets beauty."World must be cold.This is the only spot of Alaskan climate for miles,better enjoy what i can from it."Jacob laughs as he waits for his fellow marines to reunite with him.
"Jacob MacArthur?"the shadow remarks."Let me see if i can find anything on him."he checks his data pad from the tag numbers he found in the audio feed."Dammit! nothing! it said that everything was corrupted in the recovery!"The shadow growls"Is there nothing on him? not the slightest,little speck of information!?"
Vertigo tilts his head at him then shuts the audio log down."Sir maybe it is best we stop trying for now, we have much data to analyse and study,maybe we can find something hidden under the corrupted files,it is not impossible to find those files and recover them but it is rather difficult."
"Then do so,i want that data to be found vertigo, it could hold what i need to win this war!And finally restore order in this mockery of a species!"The shadow growls shaking his head."No matter, vertigo,clean the corrupt data if you can,restore it,and lock it away in my personal folder.I want no man,woman,or child seeing that data.
"Yes sir i will make sure that it remains hidden once and if i am able to cleanse it."vertigo bows to him."That is all i have at the moment sir. i am sorry."
"No"the shadow began"You have done extraordinary today vertigo,this will only spike my interest more in finding the Auroran home-world and crushing it in my hands."He sighs"Such petty fools to think they can wander around aimlessly,thinking they can be as free as they will.Even those who stray off the path must return to the road at some point in their little lives."The shadow coldly replies."Fantastic work vertigo, now do go and rest,you have earned it."
Vertigo bows to him and smiles."Yes,now if you'll excuse me i have some other A.i's i must torture for information,be back in a few hours!"the a.i cheerfully says as he zip's into the terminal.
"Jacob macarthur"the shadow began"That name will follow me to the grave.
